A woman’s home, as well as her heart and very nature, is a citadel to those around her. In the home, a godly woman has the ability to nurture and care for both bodies and souls. Her words of encouragement can fortify her family and friends' hearts in a way that no other healing balm can do. The haven she creates can both shelter from the storms of life and provide a place of joyful celebration in times of victory. Her strength is a well from which her people draw, soaking up courage to go forth again in pursuit of their mission. She embodies the cause for which her people fight. She girds them with wisdom, fills them with hope, and then sends them out like arrows into the fray. Her battle is the battle to see goodness, beauty, and truth enfleshed. With every candle lit, every loaf of bread baked, and every owie kissed, she pushes back darkness. A godly home is truly a beacon of light shining into a dark world giving hope and meaning. Without a strong, shining Citadel, an army will fall. And without a godly woman in the home, a family will fail. For this reason, it is crucial that we help women understand their pivotal role and show them how to live it out.
A citadel is a strong castle in or near a city, where people can shelter from danger, especially during a war. Christians today, both men and women, are at war against the powers of darkness. Our society is completely saturated with toxic feminism everywhere we look, the family unit is under attack, true, biblical masculinity is scorned, and children are seen not as blessings but as burdens. For most women, true biblical womanhood is a complete mystery. They are constantly taught to pursue selfish ambition, see themselves as victims, and chase after a life outside the home and away from their people. It’s time Christians take this battle seriously.
We want to call women higher. Women today don’t need any more coddling, they need to be exhorted to robust, courageous, productive living for the Kingdom of God. They need to be told where their battle posts are and how to live out their unique calling. They need to be taught how godly women can properly engage in this battle against the powers of darkness. And we believe that such women are the most valuable in this fight when faithfully manning their posts at home….or as we like to say, their Citadels.

Women are uniquely designed by God to be nurturers, life-givers, helpmeets, and keepers of the home. It’s time to abandon all sense of shame regarding these roles and reclaim an attitude of godly ambition towards them. We aim to educate, inspire, and equip women to push against toxic feminism by embracing the high calling that they have been given.

God created us to be characters in the greatest Story ever told. Too many people live monotonous, meaningless lives, void of adventure, curiosity, wonder, or ambition. Women especially are prone to fall into one of two ditches, boredom and apathy, or resentment and escapism. God did not put us here to merely survive until we die. We have the opportunity to join Him right now, in our real life in the Greatest Adventure of all time. We just need to have the eyes to see the adventure before us, and the courage to be heroes in the stories He’s given us. We aim to wake up women to the beauty of joyful obedience in Christ and seek to cultivate a sense of wonder in the epic story He is unfolding before our eyes.

Our official statement of faith is the Reformed Evangelical Confession. This Confession beautifully summarizes all the most important tenets of Reformed Christian thought without being overly detailed, thus leaving room for individual growth and maturity through personal study of God’s Word. In this way, we have a great deal of liberty regarding doctrinal matters of secondary importance, similar to Augustine’s dictum: In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.
